Evangelistic Outreach to the Philippines
On February 25 of 2004 we arrived in Cebu Philippines. After a 18 hour flight, sleep looked good, but it was a time to practice in preparation for the days of ministry ahead. Pastor Rolly (our sponsor) met us at the airport and on to his church,” Living Water Christian Fellowship” for practice.
February 26 - This morning we visited the prison in Mandaue our first healing took place here as a man was healed of back pain. This evening we held an evangelistic crusade at the sports arena in Pulpogan in Cebu. We were greeted with a large banner and so many smiling children. The response to the gospel was wonderful with people giving themselves wholeheartedly to God. Many came forward for prayer.
February 27 - This morning we visited the jail in Cebu. The jail was divided into 4 wards; two housed the men, one for women and last one, for boys. The youngest of the boys was about 10 years old. All nine of the boys who were in jail wept their way to salvation! Donna, our keyboard player and song writer was able to minister to the women for about an hour. The response to the testimonies, worship and gospel was tremendous, with an entire ward giving their hearts to the Lord. Of 280 men, women and children in the jail over 200 got saved. John Lake once wrote a book entitled, “Adventures in God"' and it certainly was. The evening service held at Cordova on Mactan Island. It had started to rain, but the worship team would not take shelter believing God would stop the rain. Once the service begins, the rain stopped. God can even hold back the rain. Once again when the invitation was given many responded to the call of salvation. The report we were given was a woman was healed of a goiter - to God be the glory.
February 28 - Today we enjoyed fellowship at Pastor Rolly's house. We had the privilege of feeding 80 to 100 children at the Pastor's home. We discovered that the Pastor feeds this many children every Saturday at his home (half of these children are orphans). With the funds that his church takes in you have to wonder how they do it - but, with God all things are possible. Isn't this one of the reasons why those who is associated with this ministry help us financially? Thank you for caring!
February 29 - Sunday morning service at Living Water Christian Fellowship. Many were brought to tears as we entered into the presence of God through our praise and worship. God moved in a powerful way as young men and women came weeping to the alter; their only request was to grow closer to God. One young lawyer was so moved during the service that he later went with us to Nasingin Island, believing God had called him into ministry during the morning service! Can it get any better than this? Yes it can!
February 29 - Sunday evening service in Talisay City at Sanctuary of Praise Church - the church was celebrating their 11 anniversary. It was a very beautiful service with young girls worshipping the Lord in the dance. Were blessed by the dedication these young men and women had in serving the Lord. We will never forget the kindness that was shown to all of us during and after the service.
March 01 - Minglanilla City, family compound. Everywhere we went people responded to the gospel. Through everything Jesus was uplifted. God deserves the glory! One man who had suffered a stroke stood up for the first time in eight years. March 02 - Naga City, open plaza meeting. We received an open invitation from the Mayor to hold services in the Plaza which was located adjacent to the beach. Everyone this night who received Jesus as Lord and Savior were first time converts and all who came forward for prayer were unbelievers prior to the service. One young boy who came forward for prayer wanted only one thing - to be loved. The good news is that Jesus does love him and so do we!
March 03 - Nasingin Island, Bohol. After a 2 1/2 hour small boat ride over open ocean we arrived on this small Island of 10,000 people . The entire Island is made up of fisher men and their families. My how God moved during the services. In two nights 250 to 300 people were sa ved. One little boy named George had his mother abandon him, his brother and two sisters. To make matters worse his father was found dead floating in the ocean. Fortunately George's brother and sisters found a place to stay, but little George has to fend for himself just hoping to find a place to sleep at night and every morning his nightmare begins all over again. Through everything George smiles.
March 03 - I will mention three people that were healed while we were on this Island. A man was instantly healed of a painful ulcer. A woman was healed of rheumatoid arthritis and a heart condition and a nother man was healed of a diabetic condition. These healings have stood the test on time and remain healed today. The pastors on the Island believe because of the great age of the people healed that everyone will come to the Lord. We have been blessed and indeed changed forever because of our experiences in the Philippines and we hope that you have also been blessed by reading these stories. The story does not end here, however, we had two more wonderful days of ministry in Cavite a suburb of Manila. |
